Kathleen Mary Reid

Kathleen Mary Reid, age 80, died on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.

She was born in Brooklyn to the late Josephine and William Kenney.  She attended Notre Dame College in Staten Island where she received her Bachelors Degree in Political Science and received a Masters in Education from Seton Hall University.  She taught at Christ the King School in Hillside for five years and Immaculata High School in Somerville for eighteen years.  The last five years she served as chair of the history department.

She was predeceased by her husband Lucien in 1996, her sister Mary Ruffin Hicks in 2015, and her son Peter in 2017.

Kathleen was active in her parish, Immaculate Conception Church in Clinton, where she taught CCD for several years and was a lector and Eucharistic Minister for over twenty years. She was active in pro-life work and received the Pro-Vita award from the Diocese of Metuchen in 2006 for starting and moderating the Pro-Life Club at Immaculata.  She and her husband were also members of the Republican County Committee for many years.

Kathleen is survived by her son Christopher and grandchildren Micheen, Justin, and Sean; her son Matthew and grandchildren Joann, Jessica, Juliet and Jennifer; her daughter Meghan Bogado and her husband Favio and grandchildren Kyle, Christian and Nicholas; her daughter-in-law Jennifer and grandson Peter (PJ). 

Calling hours will take place on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 2-6pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Funeral Mass will be Monday, November 28, 2022 at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ.  Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Clinton, NJ.
