Lewis ‘Punk’ Hockenbury Jr., age 83, of Lopatcong Twp, NJ passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 7, 1938 in High Bridge, NJ. He lived in Clinton Twp., NJ for many years before moving to Lopatcong Twp. in 2014.
He was the son of the late Lewis Hockenbury Sr. and Luella (Fulper) Hockenbury.
He was the husband of Diana Lee (Grish) Hockenbury, celebrating 50 years of marriage.
He was a US Army Veteran, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division.
Punk worked with the Clinton Twp. Road Department for 41 years until his retirement.
Memberships include the High Bridge Reformed Church in High Bridge, NJ.
Punk had a passion for aviation. He loved being a Paratrooper in the US Army. He had his Glider Pilot’s License and owned his own Glider and Airplane years ago. He also enjoyed motorcycles and race cars. He loved to travel with his wife, especially to Myrtle Beach.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife include his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Gary Grish and his wife Laurie of Bath, PA, Linda Shehan and her husband Scotty of Bowling Green, KY and Stephen Grish and his wife Megan of Fort Myers, FL. Six nieces and nephews; Kristina Asimoglou, Scotty Shehan Jr., Kristen Cooper, Jennilee Coots, Stevie Lynn Eaton and Dale Fulper.
Predeceased by his half-brother; Robert Fulper. Nephew; Robert Fulper Jr. Nieces; Robin Geddings and Sandy Miller.
All services will be private.
Arrangements are under the direction of Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.
