Liloutie 'Janet' Kanhai

Liloutie 'Janet' Kanhai, age 72, of Clinton, NJ, passed away on Saturday, November 08th, 2025, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, with her loving her loving family by her side.

She was born on October 04th, 1953, in Friendship "Buxton", ECD, Guyana. She lived in Bath Settlement, Berbice until 1983, then immigrated to Trinidad, and after then immigrated to the US (Clinton, NJ) to live with her daughter and family since November 2007.

She was the daughter of the late Rohit and late RamdularieMangru. She was the eldest granddaughter for the late Parasram and late Ramdaye Dabi of Friendship "Buxton", ECD, Guyana. She was the wife of the Late Mawalal "Rome" Kanhai, with whom she celebrated 39 years of marriage.

Since she came to live in the US, she has been very supportive of her daughter and family. Taking care of her grandchildren, she didn't want anything in return.

Janet loved to be around her families, cooking, listening to religious songs and watching TV, especially Bollywood Indian movies and Hollywood Western shows. She also loved dancing.

Survivors include her two children: Gangadai ("Dolly" or "Ashley") Ramsood and her husband Mohan of Clinton, NJ, and Ganesh Kanhai and his wife Katyana of Trinidad. Four grandchildren: Chetram' Phillip' Ramsood, Mukesh 'Josh' Ramsood, Vidya' Isabella' Ramsood, and Shiva 'Rick' Kanhai. Also, she's survived by three beloved sisters (Tara, Jean, and Indira) and one brother (Totaram). Brother – in law of late Dave, late Gope, late Murphey and Sister-in-law Cindy. She has eight nieces (Meera, Malesha, Stephanie, Nicole, Tasha, Diane, Kitty, Amanda) and six nephews (Rocky, Bayo, Chine, Anil, Raymond, Nicholas).

Visitation will take place on Friday, November 14th, 2025, from 6-9 pm and Visitation with service Saturday, November 15th, 2025, from 9 am to 11 am, all at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Cremation will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ.
