Lisa Dawn Hendershot

Lisa Dawn Hendershot, age 54, of Readington Twp., NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.

Lisa was born on December 29, 1971, in Perth Amboy, NJ and spent her childhood in Woodbridge.  Later on, she moved to Frenchtown where she resided for many years before finally settling down in Readington where she had remained for the last three years. 

Lisa had previously worked as a QA Tester for AT&T, as well as Verizon as a Senior QA Analyst, Production Support, and QA Tester, UnitedHealth Group as a Release Manager, CVS Health as a Senior Release Manager, and was currently working as a Senior Release Manager for Centene Corporation.

Lisa enjoyed a wide variety of adventures and hobbies throughout her life.  She had a passion for personal fitness that included weightlifting. She enjoyed being in the kitchen to master recipes such as many of her grandmother's dishes. She also enjoyed motorcycle
riding and spending time with her husband, George.  She had a kind heart; she loved animals and made friends wherever she would go.  She also enjoyed spending time and spoiling her grandchildren.

My mom was the bravest, strongest, smartest, selfless, and most hard working woman I have ever known in my life, and will ever know. She was my hero, my role model, and my everything. I see her everywhere I go, and I pray she's my mom in every life, timeline, and universe. I love her with every atom of my being and will do my best to carry the bright torch she carried until we meet again. I love you so much mom and I just know you and babci are together again. In addition to her husband, George E. Hendershot Jr., with whom she was married since May 2023, Lisa is survived by her mother, Eva Petschauer of Bethlehem, PA, her loving son, Joseph McDonald of Phillipsburg, NJ, and step-children, Sarah Ann Hendershot and George E. Hendershot III, both of Readington Twp., NJ. Her in-laws: George E. Hendershot Sr. and Judith A. Hendershot as well as numerous other family members. Her beloved grandchildren, Cecilia Bernice McDonald and Nathaniel Rogan McDonald.
Her three sisters: Katherine Powylan-Petschauer, Kristina Manteria and her husband, Jorge, of Washington, NJ; Jessica Brandt, her husband,
Corey, and their son, William, of Bethlehem, PA.  She is also survived by her Aunt Nadine and Uncle Witold (who is also her Godfather).

Lisa is predeceased by her father, Jose San Miguel Mendez, her grandmother, Bronislawa "Bernice" Powylan, and her grandfather, Apolinary "Popeye" Powylan.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
