Martin Hup Jr., age 87, of Lebanon Twp, NJ passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at home.
He was born on September 13, 1937 in Pine Brook, NJ. He spent most of his childhood in Midland Park, NJ. He resided in Lebanon Twp. on his private farm ‘Hidden Acres Farm’ that he maintained for 52 years.
He was the son of the late Martin Hup Sr. and Inez Suggs Hup.
Martin was the husband of Jeannette Margaret Pay Hup, celebrating 66 years of marriage.
Martin was a US Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from 1957 to 1963.
Early in his career, Martin was a Police Officer in Mountain Lakes from 1968 to 1972 until he ultimately ended up working in the family business, Hup & Sons Excavating and Paving, which he owned and operated until his retirement.
Memberships include past member of the Masonic Lodge at St. John’s in Mountain Lakes, NJ. He was also a life member of the Bergen County Rod and Gun Club. He was a past president of LICA and a member of Hunter Holding Club in PA.
Martin was an avid hunter. He also loved going on drives and golfing years ago. He enjoyed going to his house in Florida as well as caring for his property in Lebanon Twp. He loved animals, especially all his animals on the farm.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife include four children; Cindy English and her husband Dave of Lebanon Twp., NJ, Bonnie Benner and her husband Scott of Flemington, NJ, Michael Hup and his wife Vandana of Swedesboro, NJ and Craig Hup and his wife Jill of Tewksbury Twp., NJ. Fifteen grandchildren; Hunter, Martin IV, Sheila, Christian V, Duncan, Brielle, Jessica, David, Nicholas, Lucy, Charlotte, Eve, Kash, Erin and Joe. Six great-grandchildren. Two siblings; Gary Hup and Carol Jean Hup. Several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by one son; Martin Hup III who passed away on December 29, 2024. He is also predeceased by two sisters; Rita Athens and Eileen Benedetti.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 10am. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment will be private.
