Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Bush, age 88, of Pittstown, NJ passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown, NJ.

She was born on March 19, 1932 in Califon, NJ where she lived until her marriage to Guy F. Bush from High Bridge, NJ. Upon marriage they moved to an empty property in Lebanon Twp., NJ. Together they built a house where they lived for over 50 years. For the promise of warmer weather Mary and Guy spent several winters in Daytona Beach, FL.

She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Reta Robinson Burd.

Her husband, Guy Franklin Bush, passed away in 2009 after 55 years of marriage. For a number of years they were the proprietors of the Stopover Bar in Hampton, NJ.

As a young mother Mary worked nights as a Telephone Operator in Califon, NJ. When her children were school aged she ran a small contracting business which provided individual transportation to school for special needs children.

In her later years Mary enjoyed going to the YMCA in Bunnvale, NJ. The excitement of winning also lured her to the Sands Casino from time to time. She was an avid baker. Friends and family could expect tasty cookie trays around the holidays. A tradition carried on by her daughters Lisa and Kris. Mary also enjoyed the multitude of sports her son Wade played and looked forward to attending each and every event.

Survivors include two daughters; Kris James of Pottstown, PA and Lisa Cregar and her husband Jim of Hampton, NJ.  One son; Wade Bush and his wife Patty of Cincinnati, OH.  Six grandchildren; Callie Cregar, William James, Kari Cregar and her fiancé Edwin Hollwedel, Cole Bush, Logan Bush and Cooper Bush. One sister; Bernice Winters of Flemington, NJ, a niece and multiple nephews.

She is predeceased in addition to her husband by one brother; Carl R. Burd.

Due to the current restrictions regarding COVID-19, a memorial gathering will take place at a later date.
