Mary Walls Obituary

Mary A. Walls, age 89, of Lebanon, NJ passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.

She was born on December 9, 1931 in Lebanon, NJ.  She was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County, living in Califon on the family farm as well as Lebanon where she lived in the same home since 1950.   

She was the daughter of the late Russell and Flossie Sliker Hoffman.

She attended High Bridge High School, and at age 17 married the love of her life.

Her beloved husband, James H. Walls, passed away in 2009 after 60 years of marriage.

In her younger years, Mary worked for the Dress Factory in High Bridge until her growing family allowed her to spend most of her years as a homemaker.

Memberships include the Round Valley United Methodist Church in Lebanon where she was a member of the choir, taught Sunday school and vacation bible school and was also continually active in the preparation and serving of various Church dinners.  Mary was also a member of the Stewart Chapter #166 Order of the Eastern Star, Stanton Grange and also a founding member of Meals on Wheels in Lebanon.  Years ago, she enjoyed being a Cub Scout Leader for her oldest son’s pack. 

Mary was a wonderful nurturing mother with an extraordinarily strong faith and will always be remembered for her loving touch.

Survivors include two sons; James L. Walls and his wife Anne of High Bridge, NJ and Nolan D. Walls of Marshalls Creek, PA.  One daughter; June Galando of Phillipsburg, NJ.  Five grandchildren; Joshua Walls and his wife Heidi of Cresco, PA, Rhiannon Piperata and her husband Tim of Phillipsburg, NJ, Matthew Walls and his wife Nichole of Lebanon Twp., NJ, Ricky Galando of Phillipsburg, NJ and William Walls of Easton, PA.  Great-grandchildren; Matthew Walls Jr. of Lebanon Twp., NJ, Oliver Walls of Cresco, PA, Mason Galando of Phillipsburg, NJ and Fynlea Walls of Cresco, PA.  Three step-grandchildren; Mark Horton of WI, Theresa Hadsock of Glenwood Springs, CO and Heather Nichols of NJ.  Two step-great-grandchildren; Hunter and Tanner Hadsock. 

Mary is also survived by one brother; Walter Hoffman and his wife Carolyn of Lebanon, NJ.  Sister-in-laws; Joan Hoffman of Califon, NJ and Dorris Huff of Penfield, NY.  Brother-in-law; Leon Walls of Pittstown, NJ.  Several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased in addition to her husband by six brothers; Levi Hoffman, Loyd Hoffman, Pete Hoffman, Raymond Hoffman, Rusty Hoffman and Harold Hoffman. 

Calling hours will take place on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm with Eastern Star Services at 8pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Funeral will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11am at Round Valley United Methodist Church, 30 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Interment at Mountain View Cemetery in Cokesbury, NJ.
