Monica M. Connors, of Lebanon, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born on December 15, 1938, in Tipperary, Ireland, Monica was the daughter of the late John Ayres and Helena Wall Ayres. She later made her home in the United States, becoming a proud American citizen. Her family fondly recalls that she picked up her citizenship papers on the very day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated—a moment in history she never forgot.
Monica worked as a Proofreader for House Beautiful Magazine on Madison Avenue in New York City until her retirement. A career that she loved as well as window shopping during her time in the city.
Monica was predeceased by her former husband, James Stratton Connors; her son, James Connors Jr., who passed away in 2022; and her siblings, Flannan, Paschal, Annette, Rita, Veronica , Patricia, Adrian, and Gemma,.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Seán Connors of North Carolina; her sister, Marie McAtamney and her husband Hugh of Ireland; and her many loving nieces and nephews, and friends
A devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station, NJ, Monica was known for her warm heart and friendly spirit. She especially enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and treasured the friendships she made throughout her life. She will be remembered for her kindness, gentle nature, and the love she shared, family and friends will forever cherish Monica’s memory and the lasting impact she made on all who knew and loved her.
All services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.
