Patricia Frusco Obituary

Patricia Frusco, 91, of Readington, died on November 12, 2022 in the peace of her home after an illness.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother and companion who will be terribly missed by those she left behind.

Patricia was one of four children born to Joseph and Irma Sloan, and the last to leave this earth. She lived much of her childhood in New York City before losing her father at a young age. She also lived for a time in Blairstown before the family settled in Somerville. A graduate of Somerville High School in 1949, she married George F. Wharton Jr. and the couple raised three children. Some of her most cherished memories from this time included family trips to Swartswood  Lake, the Bronx Zoo, Canada and the 1960’s New York World’s Fair.

Later she married Pasquale “Pat” Frusco of Readington, her dear partner for decades. When grandchildren arrived, the couple embraced their new roles as grandparents to the fullest. They also became enthusiastic yard sale shoppers to fill their home with playthings. Grammy always had either a video camera or regular camera in hand to preserve precious moments in time, earning her the nickname The Camera Lady. Her family enjoyed her holiday baking of snickerdoodles and pumpkin pie. Every birthday, she called with a special personal present, a lovely rendition of the Happy Birthday song.

As a young woman, Patricia worked first at a local credit union, then as a secretary at Ethicon and Ortho. After retiring she worked as a temp at Merck. She attended Raritan Valley Community College, receiving an Associate Degree, and joined a seniors computer club to enhance her skills and stay connected to family. She loved to shop, was an avid reader, and brought her own style and glamour wherever she went.

She is survived by her children, George F. Wharton III (Lynn Moran), Sue Wharton (Janice Textor) and Beth Ann Smith; two grandchildren, Mara Smith (Kenneth Kouba) and Stephen Smith  (Nadia Kadry) and her loving companion, Vincent Klimas.
