Paul Henry Hanigan, age 78, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 18, 1944 in Plainfield, NJ. He spent his childhood in Plainfield, NJ and moved to South Plainfield, NJ after his service in the Navy. He resided in Clinton Twp. since 1982.
He was the son of the late Paul Roberts Hanigan and June Frances Kehr Hanigan Igan.
Paul was the husband of Ruth Ellen Seddon Hanigan, celebrating 41 years of marriage.
He was a US Navy veteran, serving from 1962 to 1968.
Paul retired as a Pipe Fitter for Ethicon in Somerville, NJ after 36 years of employment.
Memberships include Local Union #630. Paul was also an EMT for Ethicon Rescue Squad which supported Green Knoll Rescue Squad. He was active with the Plainfield and High Bridge Rescue Squads for many years. He enjoyed volunteering with his wife for ‘Above and Beyond Transport’, transporting animals to their forever homes.
Paul loved spending time with his sons. He went to every sporting event that they had and also was very active in Cub Scouts with them. He also loved going to his home in Maine and spending time there with family and friends.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife include three sons; John Elliott Hanigan of Raymond, ME, Patrick James Hanigan of Phillipsburg, NJ and Brian Seddon Hanigan of Raymond, ME. He is also survived by his sister; Lynne Larmour and her husband Robert of Clinton Twp., NJ. Nieces/nephew; Susan Simpson and her husband Thatcher, Jennifer Larmour and her wife Amelia Ross and Robert Larmour and his wife Angela. Brother-in-law; John Seddon and his wife Nancy of ME.
Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 11am. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment following at Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Ave., Scotch Plains, NJ.
