Rev. F. Irvin Angstadt Jr. Obituary

Rev. F. Irvin Angstadt Jr. age 88, of Tatamy, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. 

He was born on March 29, 1934 in Norristown, PA.  He resided in the Easton Area for 21 years, moving from Annandale, NJ where he lived since 1970.

He was the son of the late Frank Irvin Angstadt Sr. and Alice Horrocks Angstadt. 

Irv was the husband of Tammy Keiper Angstadt, which they were blessed to have shared over 41 years of a wonderful marriage.

He was a graduate of Upper Merion High School and continued on to Franklin & Marshall where he received his undergraduate degree and was captain of the baseball team.  He went on to earn his master’s degree in Divinity from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  

Irv worked for the State of New Jersey Department of Corrections for 30 years until his retirement.  He served as Pastor for a number of churches, where he shared his faith and officiated many weddings and baptisms. His outreach as a Pastor earned him the nickname “The Rev” among many. He retired from the church ministry from the Musconetcong Valley Presbyterian Church in Hampton, NJ. 

Memberships include Forks United Church of Christ in Stockertown, PA.  He was also an honorary member of the Hampton Fire Department where he served as Chaplain for the Fire Company. 

Irv was an avid sports enthusiast.  He loved coaching. Over the years, he was known as Coach A among numerous sports teams in the Hunterdon County area.  He especially loved baseball and his Phillies. His love for Lionel trains started as a young boy and lasted his whole life.  He was also a skilled woodworker, making beautiful furniture for his home that his family will cherish.

Survivors in addition to his wife include six children; Lorie Smith and her husband Tim of Wind Gap, PA, Robert Angstadt and his wife Katie of Pawleys Island, SC, Thomas Angstadt and his wife Sue of Old Bridge, NJ, Allison Elling and her husband Gary of Bloomsbury, NJ, Jennifer Poff and her husband Carl of Bangor, PA and Gretchen Biedermann and her husband Kurt of Tatamy, PA.  Fourteen grandchildren; Kristi, Jeffrey, Brian, Emily, Derek, Alexandra, Jessica, Maxwell, T.J., Payton, Jillian, Chase, Jocelyn and Troy. Three great-grandchildren; Jacquelyn, Everleigh and Theodore.  One brother; David Angstadt and his wife Barbara of Middleburg, PA.  Eight nieces and nephews. 

Calling hours will be Monday, June 20, 2022 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 11am at Musconetcong Valley Presbyterian Church, Valley Road, Hampton, NJ.  Interment at Musconetcong Valley Cemetery in Hampton, NJ.
