Richard J. Schultz, age 68, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at home.
He was born on June 10, 1953. He resided in South Plainfield, NJ as a child and has lived in Clinton Twp., NJ for most of his life.
He was the son of the late Joseph and Dolores Sparks Schultz.
Rich was a graduate of North Hunterdon Regional High School as well as the Medical Laboratory Technology Program at Union County Technical College and Jacksonville University.
He was currently employed at Monmouth Medical Center as Supervisor of Laboratory Anatomical Pathology, Cytology and Cytogenetics. Rich was very devoted to his work, passionate about his career and treated his colleagues as family.
Memberships include the Round Valley United Methodist Church in Lebanon, NJ. He was also a member the National Society for Histotechnology, NJ Association for Histotechnology and the American Society of Pathologists.
Rich has been described as a gentle and kind soul. He would always do his best to appease both sides in any opposition. He was a true peacemaker. He loved gardening and also loved his cats.
Rich was very involved in his community. He loved his Church family, was a dedicated member of the RVUMC Men's Group and freely gave of his time and talents supporting Church dinners, breakfasts and the annual 4th of July festivities. As a vital member of the RVUMC Ad Council, Rich was passionate and compassionate in his multiple roles serving the Church. He will be remembered for his delicious chocolate chip cookies, and Dunkin Donuts that he supplied every 4th of July and at the annual town wide yard sale. He will be missed by all and his incredible generosity will never be forgotten.
Rich was also passionate about voting. He worked the polls at every election and was always quick to remind people how important it is to vote.
Survivors include numerous caring work colleagues at Monmouth Medical Center and beloved friends at Round Valley United Methodist Church.
He is predeceased in addition to his parents by his sister; Dorene G. Schultz who passed away in 2011.
Calling hours will take place on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Funeral service will be Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11am at Round Valley United Methodist Church, 30 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment at Bloomsbury Cemetery in Bloomsbury, NJ.
