Robert Marten Bauer

Robert Marten Bauer, age 86, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 12, 1936 in Springfield, NJ.  He spent his childhood in Kenilworth, NJ and resided in Warren, NJ for many years before moving to Mt. Pleasant, SC in 2001.  He lived in Clinton Twp., NJ for the past 7 years. 

He was the son of the late Jacob and Catherine Smith Bauer. 

His beloved wife, Dorothy Ann Stiles Bauer, passed away in October of 2021 after 65 years of marriage.  The couple were High School sweethearts and married on November 11, 1956 shortly after they graduated Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield, NJ. 

Robert was a US Navy Veteran, serving in the Seabee battalion. 

He worked heavy construction for Mohawk Construction and also J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc. until his retirement. 

Robert loved the NY Yankees.  He will always be remembered for loving orange soda.  He enjoyed taking the whole family on a trip to Alaska years ago, a vacation that was very special to him.

Survivors include five grandchildren; Ken Graff, Kai Bauer, Alexander Bauer and his fiancé Judith Richardson, Stiles Bauer and Luba Bauer.  His daughter-in-law; Mary Ann Bauer of Clinton Twp., NJ.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law; Theodore Stiles and his wife Elizabeth of Califon, NJ.  Nieces and nephew; Ellen McGowan of Asbury, NJ, Theodore Stiles of NH and Tricia Abbondanzo of Tewksbury Twp., NJ. 

Predeceased in addition to his beloved wife by his two sons; Kurt Robert Bauer and Kenneth Gerard Bauer.  He is also predeceased by his dog Holly. 

Calling hours will take place Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 7-9pm.  Funeral service will be Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11am.  All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Clinton, NJ.
