Robert A. Gordon, age 78, of Lebanon Twp., NJ passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ.
He was born on July 13, 1944 in Somerville, NJ. He grew up in Peapack-Gladstone, before moving to the Meyersville and Stirling sections of Long Hill Township. He resided in Lebanon Township, NJ for the past 47 years.
He was the son of the late Albert and Mildred Fowler Gordon.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Regina Kusma Gordon.
Bob attended Bernards High School in Bernardsville, NJ.
He worked for Vollers in North Branch, NJ and for Louis Ventriglia in Basking Ridge, NJ as a Truck Driver and in on-site construction, until his retirement in 1999.
Memberships include the Teamsters Union Local 560 in Union City, NJ.
Bob was an extreme car enthusiast. He was known to his friends as ‘Big Block Bob’ and enjoyed drag racing, dirt track stock car racing and going to car shows and cruise nights. He especially enjoyed classic muscle cars and hot rods. Bob also enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time at Lake Wallenpaupack with his family camping, fishing and boating.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife are his children; Robert Gordon and his wife Michele of Lebanon Township, NJ, Renee Ballentine and her husband Andy of Lebanon Township, NJ, Richard Gordon and his wife Tracy of Holland Township, NJ and Shirley Takacs and her husband Frank of Blairstown, NJ. Four grandchildren; Robert, Kayla, Mae and Carter. He is also survived by one sister; Alberta Suiter and her husband Donald of Alpha, NJ. and several nieces and nephews.
All services will be private, a celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home in High Bridge, NJ.
