Robert A. LaPatta, age 81, of Somerville, NJ passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset.
He was born on June 22, 1941 in Newark, NJ. He resided in Somerville for the past 10 years, moving from Whitehouse Station, NJ.
He was the son of the late Alexander and Helen Kozalo LaPatta.
Robert was the husband of Berenice Lentz LaPatta, celebrating 32 years of marriage.
Robert had many jobs throughout his vast career. He was a Carpenter in the Carpenter’s Union, worked as a Tool & Die maker at Federal Steel in Somerville and operated a tree business with his best friend. He also worked at Ethicon as a needle maker and later worked at Kings Supermarket in Whitehouse Station.
Previously, he was a member of the Flemington Rod & Gun Club.
Robert loved gardening and taking care of his lawn. He also enjoyed woodworking and made various pieces of furniture for his home. He loved keeping busy outside, especially feeding the birds.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife include four daughters; Dawn Peppe and her husband Mark of Stewartsville, NJ, Michele Stiglitz and her husband David of Phoenix, AZ, Denise Ulicny and her husband Michael of Harmony, NJ and Janette Simo and her husband John of El Mirage, AZ. Two step-children; Daniel Smith and his wife Mary of Flemington, NJ and Shirley VonRonne and her husband Paul of Aberdeen, NC. Sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many beloved cousins.
Predeceased by one sister; Carol E. Lane.
Calling hours will take place on Monday, October 3, 2022 from 4-7pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ 08833. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ.
