Robert Watson Larmour, age 83, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at home.
He was born on December 24, 1940 in Plainfield, NJ. He spent his childhood in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School. He resided in Clinton Twp., NJ for the past 56 years.
He was the son of the late Robert and Isabella Wood Larmour.
Robert was the husband of Lynne Hope Hanigan Larmour, and celebrated 61 years of marriage. Robert will be remembered as a loving husband, father to three children, and grandfather to four. His wife and family were most important to him.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Lafayette College in Easton, PA.
In college he joined ROTC and served in the United States Army Reserves until he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in December, 2000.
Robert was a union electrician and worked for Local #102 in Parsippany, NJ.
Robert was the chairman of the Trustees Committee at the Round Valley United Methodist Church in Lebanon, NJ, for a number of years. Robert was an active member of the Hunterdon County YMCA, where he faithfully worked out. He also volunteered his electrical skills with Habitat for Humanity.
Robert was an avid reader of history, his undergraduate major. He loved gardening and cooking. He was very interested in culture and enjoyed frequenting museums, going to New York City, trying ethnic foods, and traveling. He will be remembered for being very knowledgeable and his ability to fix almost everything.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife Lynne include three children; Robert J. Larmour and his wife Angela of Marlton, NJ, Jennifer Larmour and her wife Amelia Ross of Bronxville, NY, and Susan Simpson and her husband Thatcher of Fayston, VT, and four grandchildren; Hunter, Hope, Daniel and Anna. He is also survived by his sister; Judith Regan of Tewksbury Twp., NJ. His sister Lois Isabella Larmour predeceased him in 2023.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.
The funeral service will be Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 10am at Round Valley United Methodist Church, 30 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, NJ.
Memorials can be made to Wounded Warriors and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
