Robert M. Scarponi

Robert M. Scarponi, age 65, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on July 22, 1960, in Somerville, NJ, to the late Frank and Joan (Howell) Scarponi. He was a lifelong resident of Bridgewater, NJ. 

Robert was the beloved husband of Joy ‘Sue’ Black Scarponi, celebrating 35 years of marriage. 

He served in the US Marine Corps from 1979 to the early 1980’s.  

He was employed by Operating Engineers Local #825 in Springfield, NJ for the past 20 years. 

He was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved fishing, whether it was fishing on his boat, in the stream, or ice fishing.  He also enjoyed small game hunting and camping.  

In addition to his loving wife, Robert is survived by his son, Robert D. Scarponi of Bridgewater, NJ.  His daughter; Denise L. Calhoun-Bell and her husband Bill of Phillipsburg, NJ.  Grandchildren; Dawn Calhoun, Dylan Calhoun, and Cheyenne Calhoun. Great-grandchildren; Ayva Calhoun, Jewelia Murphy, Joscelyn Calhoun, Valencia Wright, Harlynn Davies and Delilah Calhoun.  One brother; Vincent Scarponi and his wife Shirley of Lebanon, NJ.  Sister-in-laws; Mary Scarponi of Bridgewater, NJ and Sharon Brandau and her husband Robert of Easton, PA.  Many nieces and nephews.  

Robert is predeceased by his brother, Frank H. Scarponi who passed away in 2019 and three great-grandsons; Dyllan Calhoun Jr, Benjamin Wright and Tyson Wright. 

Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 2-5pm, followed by a funeral service at 5pm, all at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.Interment will be private.
