Robert Veres Obituary

Robert Andrew Veres, age 71, of Bethlehem Twp., NJ passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at home.  

He was born on October 10, 1948 in Trenton, NJ.  He was a lifelong resident of NJ, and lived in Hunterdon County since 1971.

He was the son of the late Andrew and Loretta Ciesielski Veres.

Bob was the husband of Charlotte Owcarz Veres, celebrating 49 years of marriage.

He graduated from Rider College with a Bachelor’s Degree and Trenton State College with a Master’s Degree.  

Bob had a very colorful career.  He was a biology teacher at North Hunterdon Regional High School and Voorhees High School until 1979.  Throughout the 1980’s he owned and operated Clinton Seafood Market on Rt. 31.  Bob also earned a Captain’s License which allowed him to operate fishing charters in the Florida Keys.  In addition, he was a commercial fisherman in Atlantic Highlands, NJ since 1994.  He also worked in Real Estate for Coldwell Banker over the years.

Memberships include St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in High Bridge, NJ.

Bob’s biggest passions in life were his family and fishing on his boat ‘Gypsea’.  He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting.  

Survivors in addition to his loving wife include two sisters:  Elaine Temple and her husband Gregory of Lawrenceville, NJ and Arlene Bogdan and her longtime companion Dennis Malone of Yardville, NJ, brother-in-law Stephen Owcarz and his wife Candace of Luling, LA, nephew Charles Owcarz and his wife Kayla, and great-nephew Charles Owcarz Jr.  He is also survived by numerous cousins, dear friends and fishing buddies.  

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 9:30am to 11am at Naughright-Scarponi-Scarponi Funeral Home, 66 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ.  Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 59 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ.  Interment will be private.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Esophageal Cancer Education Foundation, P.O. Box 821, Manalapan, NJ 07726.
