Ronald Lomerson Obituary

Ronald G. Lomerson, age 66, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at home.

He was born on October 6, 1957 in Flemington, NJ.  He was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County.

He was the son of the late Ralph and Esther Smith Lomerson.

Ronald was the husband of Mary H. Prostak Lomerson, celebrating 43 years of marriage. The couple were High School sweethearts.

Ronald was a graduate of North Hunterdon Regional High School.  He was a student in the last class of North Hunterdon before Voorhees High School opened.  He went on to study music at Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, NC.

His career spanned 35 years in direct care and later as switch board coordinator at the Hunterdon Developmental Center in Clinton, NJ.

Memberships include Spruce Run Lutheran Church in Glen Gardner, NJ.  He was also a member of The Grange, and President of Spruce Run Cemetery. As a kid, he was active in Boy Scout Troop #125 where he also earned his Eagle Scout.

Ronald loved to tell jokes.  He will always be remembered for his ‘Larry the Lamb’ and ‘Precious’ puppets that would attend various events with him and Mary.

He loved the Flemington Fair and especially loved going to the Flemington races years ago with all the men in the family.

Most of all, Ronald adored Christmas.  He loved decorating Christmas trees, especially with the old-fashioned bubble lights. He was known for his ongoing role as Father Christmas each and every year.  He was Father Christmas in Clinton, NJ for the past 27 years, yet he has been playing the role for the past 35 years in various locations.  He even made an appearance as Father Christmas in Dickens Days in Clinton this past weekend.  On his bucket list he was always hopeful to appear on the last float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City.
