Rosalia Hamilton (Nemeth), educator, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, of High Bridge, died peacefully at home on August 26 at the age of 86.
A funeral service will be held at Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home, 66 Main Street, High Bridge on Tuesday, August 29 at 11:00am. Interment at Locust Grove Cemetery in Quakertown, NJ.
Rosalia was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 11, 1937 to Caroline (Privaterra) and Nicholas LaTrofa. She graduated from West High School in Cleveland, and studied nursing as an undergraduate, practicing as an ICU nurse before receiving Masters degrees in Nursing and Education from Ryder College and Seton Hall University. Rosalia was an adjunct professor and the Chair of the Department of Nursing at Raritan Valley College for more than 30 years. Educating future nurses and healthcare professionals was a lifelong passion, and that dedication was recognized in 1998, when Rosalia received a Congressional Citation during Women’s History Month after being named one of Somerset County’s Outstanding Women for her accomplishments in health services.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Nicholine Slempa (1988) and her husband, William Hamilton (2015), a country music entertainer. She is survived by her children Louis Nemeth (Donna), Laura Fog (Scott), and Lawrence Nemeth Ferro (Oriana), grandchildren Skyler Hamilton, Alex and Frances Nemeth, Dakota, Allie, Connor and Hunter Fog, Nicholas, Wesley, and Blake Nemeth and Aidan Alas, three great-grandchildren and her niece, Karen Pavluk (Slempa).
