Rose Hoover, age 78, of Califon, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.
Rose was born on September 11, 1947 in Somerville, NJ to the late Russel Apgar and Mary (Frank) Burd. She was a lifelong resident of Califon, NJ.
Her beloved husband, Kenneth Hoover, predeceased her.
Rose worked as a Residential Support Associate for Delta Community Support Services in High Bridge, NJ.
Rose was an avid reader and loved to cook. Most of all, Rose’s biggest joy in life was her son and family.
Rose is survived by her loving son, Jeff Smith Sr. and his wife, Dawn, of Califon, NJ, and grandson, Jeff Smith Jr. of North Brunswick, NJ. In addition, she is survived by her three siblings, John Burd, Lewis Apgar, and Danny Apgar, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rose is predeceased by her brothers, Clarence Burd and Ronald Apgar, and sister, Jane Burd. In addition, she is predeceased by her longtime companion, Donald Campbell.
Memorials can be made in Rose’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
