Rosemarie Zakszewski

Rosemarie Zakszewski, age 87, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at the Hackettstown Medical Center in Hackettstown, NJ. 

She was born on November 8, 1935 in Somerville, NJ.  She grew up in Manville, NJ and resided with her daughter in Hackettstown for the past 2 years, moving from Flemington. 

She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Ann Vasquez Straszewski.

Rosemarie attended Dunellen High School.  She worked as a Contract Officer for General Services Administration in Newark, NJ until her retirement in April of 2001.

Memberships include Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Annandale, NJ where she was a Rosarian, a member of the Mary Choir, Cornerstone member, a past Columbiette, and also headed up their baking ministry. 

Rosemarie loved baking, cooking and spending time with her family. She enjoyed ‘pie day’ with her grandchildren and was known for ‘feeding the neighborhood’ when she was only making a meal for a few people.  She also loved quilting, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. 

Survivors include two children; Tom Zakszewski and his wife Cindy of Clinton Twp., NJ and Tina Zakszewski and her partner Mikey Dunning of Hackettstown, NJ.  Two grandchildren; Claire Zakszewski of Fairfax, VA and Steven Zakszewski of Los Angeles, CA.  Four siblings; Ted Scott of Ontario, Canada, Barbara Bartushak and her husband Andrew of Manville, NJ, Jerry Straszewski and his wife Lisa of Franklinville, NJ and Gary Straszewski and his wife Ann of Manville, NJ.

She is predeceased by one brother; Rick Straszewski.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Funeral Mass will be Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ.  Interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
