Sandra ‘Sandy’ Ann Luzzo, age 56, of Flemington, NJ passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Hunterdon Medical Center.
She was born on December 8, 1964 in Rahway, NJ. She resided in Hunterdon County for her entire life, spending her childhood in Lebanon and later moving to Flemington.
She was the daughter of Loretta Sandra Prosseda Luzzo of Clinton Twp., NJ and the late Peter Angelo Luzzo.
Sandy worked as an Aide for many years at the Arc of Hunterdon County in Hampton, NJ. She was involved with the organization for over 55 years.
Memberships include St. Magdalen Catholic Church in Flemington, NJ where she was a longtime member. Sandy had an extremely strong faith and was delighted to be born on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. She enjoyed going to mass every year on her birthday.
Sandy was very involved with Special Olympics for numerous years. She even competed in the Special Olympics in Bermuda, which was a highlight for her. She also competed in the International Special Olympics in Louisiana.
Sandy was full of life and loved life. She had many passions including dancing, singing, bowling, playing bingo and doing arts and crafts. She also absolutely loved the color purple. She loved everything. She also enjoyed traveling. Some of her favorite trips included visiting Italy and Hawaii. She always looked forward to vacations.
She especially loved Christmas. She could listen to Christmas music all year long. Sandy also enjoyed planning parties at her group home and found joy in everything was around her.
Sandy was blessed with many friends. Everyone that she touched learned something from her. She lived a full life and will be dearly missed.
Survivors in addition to her loving mother include her two siblings; Peter Luzzo and his wife Lucy of Wind Gap, PA and Cathy Minnich and her husband Drew of Lebanon, NJ. Two nieces; Lauren Vanhorn and her husband Adam and Anna Luzzo. One nephew; Joshua Minnich and his fiancé Emily Miranda.
Calling hours will take place on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 2pm – 4pm and 7pm - 9pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 11am at St. Magdalen Catholic Church, 105 Mine Road, Flemington, NJ 08822. Entombment at St. Magdalen Mausoleum in Flemington, NJ.
