Sharon Lee Johnson

Sharon Lee Johnson, age 76, of Readington Twp., NJ, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family. 

Sharon was born on December 31, 1949, in Easton, PA, to the late Andrew and Miriam (Young) Schnettler. She grew up in Finesville, NJ, and she has resided in Readington Twp., NJ, since 1993. 

Sharon was the beloved wife of the late James Johnson. Married in 1974, they shared 48 years of marriage before James’ passing in 2022. 

Sharon earned her undergraduate degree in teaching from Glassboro State College and went on to work as a school teacher for both Port Colden and Brass Castle Elementary Schools in Washington, NJ. Sharon was the first art teacher in Washington Township. 

Sharon was a longtime member of Whitehouse United Methodist Church. She was also a dedicated member of the New Jersey Education Association teachers’ union. 

Outside of being a dedicated teacher, Sharon loved gardening. 

Sharon is survived by her loving sons: Nicholas Sean Johnson of Marysville, OH, and Mark Collin Johnson and his wife, Chunli, of Montgomery, AL. Her fivegrandchildren: Riley Johnson, Jackson Johnson, Ella Johnson, Hailey Johnson, and Alexander Johnson. Her sister, Dorothy Baker of Cape Coral, FL. 

In addition to her husband, Sharon is predeceased by her sister, Helen. 

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 8th, 2026, at 11am, at Rural Hill Cemetery, 15 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889.
