Susan Sheets

Susan Sheets, age 70, of Union Twp., NJ, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 at home with her loving family by her side.

She was born on July 17, 1954 in Queens, NY to the late William and Karol Schmitt. Her parents immigrated from Germany after WWII to Queens, NY where they raised her and her only sister Ellen.

While she was in High School, her parents moved from the city where they built a small house in Alexandria Township, NJ, where both her parents resided until their deaths.

Susan graduated from Delaware Valley Regional High School in Frenchtown, NJ. After graduation, she took a job at the Hunterdon Medical Center where she worked before meeting her future husband, Wayne Sheets.

Before she passed, Wayne and Susan celebrated 50 years of marriage, during which time they raised their six children in Hunterdon County.

Susan was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and served faithfully for decades at her church, South Ridge Community Church, volunteering in the nursery and serving on staff as the church business manager until her retirement.

She was most proud of her role as mother to her six children and many grandchildren. Survivors, in addition to her loving husband, include six children: Laura Wambold and her husband Nate of Green Lane, PA; David Sheets and his wife Claudia of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Stephen Sheets and his wife Michelle of Pittstown, NJ; Michael Sheets of Saint Petersburg, FL; Karen Khair and her husband Matt of San Marcos, CA; and Sarah DiGiacomo and her husband Anthony of High Bridge, NJ. Her fourteen grandchildren: Ethan Wambold, Trevor Wambold, Maggie Wambold, Xander Sheets, Karson Sheets, Bella Zaidi, Nicole Zaidi, Henry Sheets, George Sheets, Arthur Sheets, Hannah Khair, Charlotte Khair, Molly Khair and Dylan DiGiacomo. She is also survived by one sister, Ellen Schmitt, of Alexandria Twp., NJ.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 9am – 10am at South Ridge Community Church, 7 Pittstown Road, Clinton, NJ. Funeral Service will follow at 10am at the Church. Interment immediately after at Union Cemetery in Lebanon, NJ.
