Thomas Walker Eccles Sr.

Thomas Walker Eccles Sr., age 71, of Newton, NJ passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ.

He was born on July 30, 1949 in Newark, NJ.  He spent most of his life in Belleville, NJ and Highland Lakes, NJ.  He spent his final years in Newton, NJ.

He was the son of the late Charles and Ottaway Marie (nee Walker) Eccles.

He was a graduate of Belleville High School, class of 1970.  

Thomas worked as a printer for most of his career.  He worked for Clarkwood and also the Bergen Record.  

He was an avid outdoorsman.  Thomas enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.  He was fascinated with American Indian heritage.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his three children; Thomas Walker Eccles Jr. and his wife Carrie of Lebanon, NJ, Danette Dates and her husband Jason of Hewitt, NJ and Shawn Eccles and his fiancé Courtney O’Shea of Franklin, NJ.   Seven grandchildren; Katie Eccles, Megan Eccles, Thomas Eccles III, USMC Lance Corporal Cameron Dates, Mackenzie Dates, Hailey Eccles and Faith Eccles.  He is also survived by two brothers; Peter Eccles and his wife Sherry of Aberdeen, NJ and Charles Eccles and his wife Karen of Fayetteville, PA. Sister; Eleanor Vecchione of Belleville, NJ.

Predeceased by his twin brother; William Scanlon Eccles who passed away on May 30, 2020.  

Calling hours will be Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Interment will take place on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 11am at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ.
