Thomas J. Hoy, age 65, of High Bridge, NJ lost his 9-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease surrounded by the love of his family on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown, NJ.
Tom was born on July 21, 1957 in Newark, NJ. He resided in High Bridge, NJ for the past 7 years, moving from Union County, NJ. Tom was a lifelong New Jerseyan. He loved visiting the Jersey Shore, where he vacationed every summer with his family.
Tom was a self-employed auto mechanic, owning and operating Tom Hoy Automotive in Garwood, NJ until his retirement. Prior to Tom Hoy Automotive, he owned Tom’s Gulf Service Center, Inc. in Union, NJ, a cherished local institution. He loved being a mechanic, attending car shows, Mopar, and all things automotive. Tom also had a strong passion for music, especially the songs of The Eagles, The Beach Boys, and Bruce Springstein.
He was the son of the late Meirl and Lucille Pfeiffer Hoy.
Survivors include four children; Cassandra Hoy Motelson and her husband Keith of Otego, NY, Timothy Hoy of Brooklyn, NY, Samantha Hoy of San Diego, CA and Zachary Hoy of Roseland, NJ. He is also survived by four siblings; Calvin Hoy of Hackettstown, NJ, Leo Hoy of Garwood, NJ, Joseph Hoy of Mountainside, NJ and Adda Saladino of Garwood, NJ. He was the proud grandfather of 1-year-old Carrie Motelson, named after his beloved grandmother, Carrie Pfeiffer.
Tom was predeceased by one sister; Cara Hoy who passed in 1979.
Calling hours will take place on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 2pm to 4pm, followed by funeral service at 4pm at Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home, 66 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ. Interment will be private.
