Thomas Martin Jamate, age 85, of Delaware Water Gap, PA, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Bridgeway Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bridgewater, NJ.
Thomas was born on February 1, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Thomas and Stephanie (Ratz) Jamate. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and spent the majority of his adult life in Staten Island, NY. He has resided in Delaware Water Gap, PA, since 2019.
Thomas was a small business owner, operating Hi-Tech Cash Register in Kenilworth, NJ.
Thomas was a proud patriot. He served in active duty in the US Army at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, and several years in the National Guard.
Thomas was a hiking enthusiast and was an avid member of the Appalachian Mountain Club. He loved traveling; one of his favorite places to visit was Portugal. Thomas was also an avid chess player and enjoyed making red wine. He was active in the Boy Scouts and was a leader for many years.
Thomas is survived by his three children: Thomas Vincent Jamate and his wife, Marla Jamate of Amherst, MA; Gregory Jamate and his life partner Gigi Bruggeman of Lebanon, NJ; Carolyn Jamate of Saratoga Springs, NY. Three granddaughters: Hannah, Ella, and Melanie. One sister: Diane Therese Malloy of Monroe, NJ. He is also survived by his former spouse, Jean Marie McLoughlin, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Thomas is predeceased by his daughter Michele Jamate, who passed away in 1986.
Visitation will take place on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 11am to 12pm with Funeral Prayer Service at 12pm. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment will be private.
