William (Bill) Omer Gordon

William Omer Gordon, age 84, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.  He was also referred to as Bill, Omer and Wong by high school friends.

He was born on November 12, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA.  He has resided in Clinton Twp. since 1977, previously residing in Ohio, Maryland and Pennsylvania.   

He was the son of the late Joseph and Eleanor Nelson Gordon.

His wife, Kathleen Rooney Gordon, passed away in 1994 after 33 years of marriage.

Bill was a US Air Force Veteran serving from 1956 to 1960, including time in France.

He worked for AT&T for the entirety of his career.  He was also served on the NHRHS school board of education.

Bill was an avid golfer, enjoyed boating and an enthusiastic amateur magician.  He enjoyed various sports and coached youth football, basketball and baseball for many years in Cincinnati, Maryland and New Jersey.  He was also a passionate fan of Villanova basketball and Penn State football.  He has been described as a “storyteller extraordinaire”.

After his retirement, Bill worked driving the high school bus for sports events and enjoyed watching the games while he waited. He served as an Ambassador for Beaver Brook Country Club in Annandale. Bill enjoyed being a member of the AT&T Pioneers Golf League.  

Survivors include four children; Dina Prosser and her husband Marty of Hawley, PA, MaryGrace Hanson and her husband James of Palatine, IL, William ‘Bill’ P. Gordon and his wife Sasha of Singapore and AnneMarie ‘Peanut’ Gordon of Annandale, NJ.  Six grandchildren; Tyler, Emma, and Jack Hanson; Hunter Gordon; Madison and MacKenzie Rolls.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law; Michael P. Rooney Jr. and his wife Margaret of Newtown Square, PA.

Predeceased by his youngest son; Michael Rooney Gordon (2019) as well as his two siblings; Eleanor Ann Malkemes and Joseph John Gordon Jr.

Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ.  Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA.  Arrangements by Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.
